Welcome to Långa Bollar (long balls)

I have created this blog to track my Ground Hopping adventures, and to share my experiences with friends & family (and hopefully a few fellow football nerds).

In the posts below you will find photos of the football grounds I have visited, final scores, club facts, team kits & badges, and maybe more in the future...

Långa Bollar - More info about me and the blog

I am an Englishman living in Sweden (I have lived here for over 20 years). I have been to many football matches in my time, but I have always wanted to make a more concerted effort to watch matches at as many different football grounds as possible (and document them).

I have a few favourite teams (you might be able to guess), but first and foremost I am a football fan. I am very interested in football history, especially old grounds, team colours, badges and the Swedish / British connection in football.

I have a few goals to start off with, which will somewhat guide my haphazard journey around Sweden. Not necessarily in this order but I would like to see a match at all of the following (where possible): -

- World Cup 1958 venues (remaining arenas & replacements)

- Allsvenskan grounds (top division)

- Superettan grounds (2nd division)

- Women's Allsvenskan (Damallsvenskan, top division)

- All league teams in Partille kommun (my local district)

- One match / ground from all 10 Swedish football divisions (down to division 7)

- A selection of other interesting grounds from lower divisions

- Plus the occasional foreign excursion!

Hopefully you enjoy the blog, and maybe we will even bump into each other at a match at some point.

All the best // Steven

P.S. The name comes from the gift of long ball tactics to the Swedish game by Bob Houghton & Roy Hodgson :-)
