Summary

I was surprised to realise that this was my first ever Damallsvenskan match. I had seen Häcken women's play 3 times previously but all matches were in the Champion's league. So it was nice to finally see a league match and for Häcken to win (something that neither the Men's or Women's team have managed in the previous 4 'LB' visits!). Although I did feel sorry for IK Uppsala, it was not a happy visit to Gothenburg for them. Maybe not hugely surprising considering this was first versus last, and Uppsala have only managed 6 points so far. With only 5 games left of the season, this win keeps Häcken 5 points clear at the top of the table and on track for their second Damallsvenkan title in a row. Häcken's next league match will actually be home to Hammarby. If they can avoid defeat then, the league title should be sewn up. Conversely a win for Hammarby will make for a nervous end of the season.

Ground

Nordic Wellness Arena is a compact modern football arena. It replaced Rambergsvallen, which was a very basic sports arena with a running track, but that had at least a bit more character. The compact size of the stadium makes for a good atmosphere, even with smaller crowds. Both short ends of the stadium have standing areas which helps encourage a more active support.
